Quilting frenzy

I spent most of my Saturday, right here in front of this New Home machine quilting on Tess's quilt (my granddaughter - who just moved into a big girl bed at the age of 3 and needs her big girl quilt!). The New Home machine is a favorite of mine. I can't remember exactly when I got it, but I think it was before my youngest child was born and she turns 23 on the 2oth of this month. Happy Birthday, Ellen! I discovered that if I put a table behind my cutting table and quilt there - I have great support for the quilt and a lot less drag.

I finished my second block in the Nice People Nice Things pattern - this one is Innocence (my picture is not the best in the world, and I was afraid you could not read my stitchery.)

Check out this beautiful little wall hanging that Joan is giving away!http://makinquilts.blogspot.com/2008/09/give-away-sunday.html

Another GREAT birthday give-away at :http://janesfabrics.blogspot.com/ !

Happy Sunday!

Isn't it GREAT when everything comes together and it goes so smoothly? That's when quilting gets very Zen, very contemplative. Congratulations!

Happy accidents are the best. Learning and using the gray cells are a wonderful thing...smile

The sticheries are adorable. I also put a table behind my machine when quilting. I learned that little tip from Paula Reid. It really helps alot.

This will be a beautiful quilt! Just a word of caution about using hand quilting thread in a sewing machine. Make sure it is not a glazed thread. The glazing can really mess up a machine - ask me how I know!

Your stitchery looks wonderful, great work on that! I was always told NOT to use hand quilting thread in a machine... being an oldest child I never did, but followed the instructions for fear of what woud happen. I love it when I hear a testimonial such as this and learn that the machine didn't blow up into a million pieces, or that the world didn't stop turning! Good for you, your lucky GD will have a very pretty big girl quilt on her bed soon!
