Retirement -Sweet music to my heart

Today is the first day of my retirement after working full time for 43 years. It is still hard to grasp not having to get up and go to a job each morning, but I think I will adjust nicely. I had some vacation time to take, so have eased into retirement the last couple of weeks. Today, to celebrate, my husband and I purchased a new piano. I used to play a lot just for our enjoyment, at least Fred was nice enough to say he liked listening to me play. It will be delivered on Tuesday.

I have finished the Patchwork of the Crosses blocks, all 56 +1extra of them. It is hard going into quilt shops or fabric stores now and not picking out fabric for the next few blocks. Just have to connect them all together with the 1,072 one inch connecting squares. Pictures follow of my last 6 blocks.

Thanks for stopping by.

Teresa

  4. Beware, that pattern is addictive. It is wonderful for fussy-cut pieces because it really doesn't matter which direction the bias is in. It will be a bugger joining all those blocks. After the first one I made, I said "never again". Hah! My first one I named "Star Crossed" because I was destined to make it. The next I names "Double Crossed" and I can see the triple on the horizon.

  8. Congratulations on your retirement! I retired 5 yrs ago and can relate to your feelings. It was so strange to be able to go shopping on a week day. I almost felt guilty! about it!?! We sold our piano before moving because it was an old upright. I rarely played it, but liked to have it there in case I wanted to. I kind of miss having it, but we don't have room in our "down sized" home.
