I am struggling on a quilting pattern. I want to do quilt this on the machine and therefore have to keep it fairly simple, but then I don't think this quilt needs anything very complex as the colors and the pattern are rather complex enough. Maybe complex is not the right word, but hopefully you know what I mean.
Any suggestions?
Here is a picture of some flowers on my deck. I have been reading a few sites that talk about getting color inspirations for quilts from pictures and I like the red, yellow, dark green, brown and splash of bright blue in this picture. I think the would make a lovely quilt. Maybe even with a white background. That brick red paint on the steps was painted this summer, on our front porch as well as the deck and I am very interested in how it sets off other colors.
Thanks for stopping by,
Teresa

That lovely piece will look just great to decorate your winter days and that certainly is the best time for northern Lights. I know nothing about machine quilting so no advice here. You could go with a curtain effect like is seen in the aurora.
Oh that quilt is spectacular! What a whole lot of points to do--yikes! Hugs, Julierose
Your quilt looks great Teresa! Sorry, I'm not much help in how to quilt it -- if you were hand-quilting, I'd just 1/4" quilt it, but that would be a pretty tedious option with the machine.
Oh, that quilt top is just gorgeous! Love it! Best of luck figuring out how to quilt it, I have no idea how I would tackle something like it...
Hugs and stitches!
This is sort of funny, Teresa, but I think your pot of flowers WAS the inspiration for the quilt top above it! Do you see the similarities? Maybe your quilt top really inspired the choice of flower pot and flowers! the top is gorgeous. I would definitely be quilting some sort of continuous design in the plain blue areas, to draw attention to the overall diamond shape. Beyond that, I'd have to sit down with my clear acrylic sheet and dry erase markers to try out some other designs. All the best!
I love your Northern Lights quilt top...anything in the style of a NY Beauty block always catches my eye, and you featured my favorite color...blue!
In stitches,
Teresa :o)
Your Northern Lights quilt is wonderful. I love all the bright fabrics.
