In my last post, I talked about various border ideas for my hexie quilt. While going through some old magazines I came across this quilt in an American Patchwork and Quilting 2005 magazine.
I just love the look of this border and am thinking I could do something similar, but using my little hexie flowers. Maybe a birdhouse in one corner and a little blue bird or two in the other corner. I have not done anything like this before, so should be an interesting project.
In the meantime I have been working on a "secret" project and having so much fun playing with beads and beautiful wool. I should be able to show some finished projects in a couple week or so.
Have you gotten your decorations up? I have actually completed most of my decorating - just a few more ornaments to hang. These are my nesting Santas - my grandchildren have more fun playing with these, for that matter, so do I.
Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving, and happy holidays to come.

Beads and wool - oh my!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a lovely border idea. A border idea that flows with some real charm. It rests perfectly alongside your hexies I think.
Another nice alternative! You could just flip a coin and any would be great!
ReplyDeleteNo decorations here. For the third consecutive year our children and grandchildren aren't coming home for Christmas, so I don't see a point to making the effort to drag out boxes and put stuff up. Sigh. Maybe next year. Your border idea sounds perfect with your hexagons. Go for it.
ReplyDeleteI like that border idea, I think you could make a stunning finish to your quilt.
ReplyDeleteAnother great idea - this will get you right away from needing to make more hexies - unless of course you are addicted and cant help yourself!-any of the border ideas would be great and it's up to you really!!
ReplyDeleteI have a nesting set too, and I also like to play with them and they are also played with by the younger ones. I have had my mind on so many other things that I only thought about doing a little decorating yesterday. Maybe next week. Love the applique idea.
