Do Not Use......

Hand quilting thread in your sewing machine! I had a note from one of you nice bloggers that cautioned about using handquilting thread that is glazed in your sewing machine, which is exactly what I had done. She indicated that it can really mess up your machine, and she knows this by experience! Now I did not have a problem with it, but this is the first time I have used it and its an old machine with all metal parts (not sure if that matters) but I won''t be doing it again. I have also removed reference to the use of handquilting thread from my previous post.
I do so humbly apologize if I have tempted any of you into trying this .

  1. Oh man - I did the same thing! I loved the look of the stitch tho, isn't it great? I wonder if you can find that thread without the glazing? It's awesome, but I'm afraid now to gunk up my machine. No easy answers, huh?

  2. Oh, rats. I was so impressed with your rebellious, throwing caution to the wind, streak... so, we really do need to follow the rules after all?

  3. Hi Teresa, Yep it's a definite no no!
It can really 'clog' things up...not good for your machine at all.
I used to have a lady in my sewing group that used it in her machine and it wrecked her machine totally.
It does look lovely, but.....it's not worth it.
So glad you figured it out without damage to your machine.

  4. Thanks for the info-I did not know that. And I know I've put quilting thread in my machine before.

  5. I'm so glad you didn't damage your machine! The machine that I told you about that I damaged was a brand new Pfaff. I don't believe that it had all metal parts so you might be in the clear! There are lots of heavier types of threads on the market that aren't glazed so you may still be able to find the look that you want.

  6. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. We would have no improvements if adventurous souls didn't try something new. This one just didn't work out. The next thing you try may revolutionize quilting!! TTFN.......Lilly

  8. Hello Teresa, thank you for the information about using quilting thread in the sewing machine. I have not tried it. Currently I am borrowing my sisters sewing machine, so, she would not be very happy with me if I caused a castrophe with her machine.Regards Lyn
