How do you all think it would look to do a clam shell quilt pattern over the top and then add something fancy in the border - maybe even hand quilt the border with gold metallic thread? I just purchased some really nice thread from YLI that is heavier than the traditional gold metallic.
Let me know what you think.

oh my goodness, all those points! and they look incredible! I can understand you not wanting to quilt around each of them....... But it would make them pop. dilemma!! I do love the idea of the gold thread in the border if it behaves for you. Keep us updated please!
clam shell or maybe baptist fan? Deciding how to quilt something is always the hardest part of the process for me. I have a wallhanging now that I can't decide on - might post it to my blog for suggestions.
Gosh Teresa, what a dilemma. Sorry, I'm not much of a machine quilter (at least on a beauty like that) so I don't really have any advice!
Hi Teresa, I wanted to pop over and thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving such a nice comment. When I talk about cutting up scraps I'm speaking about laying out the odds and ends and trim aways from backings, rows of blocks, left over parts, etc. Anything bigger than 1.5" I save to use in another scrap quilt. Sometimes the 'leftover' kind of take over and then it's time to whip them into use-able sizes like 2.5" squares, strips of all widths, triangles, etc.
Love you fur baby, what a sweetie. Hugs, Finn
Sorry I'm not of any help about the gold thread or the border quilting.
The quilt it beautiful...I have only done a few machine quilts that were large...I like the one where you never turn the quilt...just keep it facing you...and move along the quilt... with a darning ??? foot I think it is called. That is the only way I could ever do machine...on that large a quilt.Almost like a longarm...where the quilt is quilted front to back. Not sure if that makes much sense...you only turn...when going to the next large area...or square...or row. Love it...absolutely love the quilt.
